PiccyBot- AI to describe videos as well as images

I have developed the app PiccyBot, which you can use to describe videos and images. It has several unique features like multiple in-built voices and personalities, a choice of AI engines to use and the ability to describe videos from multiple sources.

The link to the app is ‎PiccyBot on the App Store

Please catch me for any questions or comments!

Hello. I am enjoying your app immensely. I purchased the lifetime subscription a few days ago. And I am enjoying playing around with making different types of videos. I did have one question and was meaning to email you about it, but I figured I would post it here. Is there anyway to have, the video descriptions while keeping the original audio? For example, let’s say I make a video of myself and some friends at a barbecue, would it be possible to have? PiccyBot describe the scene, while still obtaining the original audio of a conversation or things going on that my friends and I might be doing?

Good to see you on here, martijn. I’ve been using this app for a while now, purchased the life time subscription and love it.

I want to point one thing out for new users. Unless it’s changed, if you are using the free version you get personality mode. This makes all the descriptions extremely opinionated. With the voice I use, absolutely every image I send it is literally a masterpiece and amazing. (Not sure if all the voice options are available for the free edition). Personally I tried it once and found it amusing, but the novelty wore off very quickly. If you pay, you can mercifully turn this off using the Personality toggle in settings.

Having said that, my wife was extremely pleased when it described her as some sort of movie star goddess.

Just want to mention it as it may (or may not) put you off if you try the free version.

@william you basically are looking for ai-generated audio descriptions?

Hi William, so you want to merge the original audio with the spoken description?

Thanks. I know it is not ideal, but when you subscribe you can set it to whatever you want. And this way, the app stands out somewhat more amongst the other image recognition apps. (Apart from still being the only video description app around, as far as I can tell.)

@martijn - sorry that wasn’t meant as a criticism, I just heard some reviews that mentioned it and I think it is a little divisive so wanted to mention that you can turn it off if you don’t like it. Some people do seem to really enjoy it though.

The best thing about the app is how you can customise it. So whether that be selecting a voice, toggling personality, changing the verbosity level or, most importantly, changing the AI model. Plus obviously being able to describe videos which I don’t think anything else can do. I think anyone who followed your old Applevis thread also really appreciates how attentive you are.

I do really like how it uses the AI TTS. I know some people don’t see the point if they have VoiceOver, but for me VO is a utility that does what I need in an efficient(ish) way but isn’t enjoyable to listen to in particular. So I like having other, more natural, voices for certain things like reading documents or describing images. And of course you can turn it off.

There’s not much I’d improve about the app really. I’d like an easier way to get descriptions from Facebook images. I’m guessing the copy/paste option isn’t workable. And I’d love Meta Ray-bans integration as we’ve spoken about before. But I am not sure if either of these things are doable without Meta pulling their finger out. Also a British voice would be nice but not really essential.

Anyway, please keep up the good work!

Yes, that is what I am aiming to do. If possible.

Understood. Some users have done this outside out PiccyBot by exporting the sound output and putting it as a second sound layer in iMovie or Final Cut Pro. I’ll check if I can make this process easier from the app itself.
