If this has already been disgust; let me know and i’ll take the post down, if I can.
I assume this site was created because of applevis shutting down.
What makes you guys diferent? In other words; how do we know this won’t be up for a month or so then taken down like applevis was?
Do you need modirators?
I can’t think of any other questions at the moment but if the community can; please ask them here, hopefully we can have an amazing time but that requires dedication and being open and honest with the users of your site.
iAccessibility has been around for quite some time, but the new features are in response to the shutdown of AppleVis. I wanted to make sure there would still be a resource after the site shuts down.
iAccessibility will soon be set up as a nonprofit, so it will not just be me running and paying for everything. The site and forums will be ran by the board. We are still working out all of those details.
The first thing we wanted to do is to get the forums and App Directories up and running, and then we will be working out all of the details.
I hope that helps to answer some of your questions, but we want to make sure that everyone knows that we want to be very transparent with our community, as the community drives this site forward now.
Oh also, you might want to think of putting a donation link on the site, that way people can donate if they can. I know a bored is running the place but a bit more money never hurt, right?
ok, I’m going through this site and editing as I go, it turns out you can choose to pay monthly if you go to your profile, then the subscribe link. Why are their teers, they don’t seam to offer anything?
Ok so from my understanding, the dot net address is a spinoff of the dot com website, geared more toward blind people?
There doesn’t seam to be a way of contacting you guys off of here, there is on the dot com site but not here.
These aren’t me criticising the website, I just think it could be made a bit clearer that you’re all part of the same websites.
IAccessibility was a blog and podcast before AppleVis shut down. The blog started as a Wordpress.com blog back in 2010 where I reviewed apps similarly to AppleVis at the time. I then registered iaccessibility.net because the .com address was taken, but nothing was there until later. We have no affiliation with iaccessibility.com.
I decided to start adding AppleVis like features once they decided to shut down the site so there would still be a resource.
I’m glad you decided to expand. I am happy to get involved, but I am really hoping for less drama and a less cult-like operation than I’ve encountered on other Apple-related accessibility sites.
As soon as I found out about this site, I immediately followed you guys on Mastodon and reposted one of your posts concerning the site, urging other people to do the same. It has gotten about a dozen repost so far, I hope this helps you guys out in someway. on a sidenote, I think it is really cool that you guys have had a IA accessibility app, which is specifically related to podcasts that you guys put out concerning Accessibility news, and other types of podcasts. Keep up the great work, and I am rooting for you guys!
It was not clear that I could use my old handle from the other site, or if I was required to give my “full name,” which would become my user name, while signing up. I hesitated because of that, but it seems to have been fine. Hope for the best with this site.
